My mother's family fled to Taiwan and settled down in Taipei. The tree shown here is the front entrance tree to the home that her family first lived when arriving in Taiwan. Since then, the place has been redeveloped as a satellite campus of a national university. However, there's a preservation clause in effect that prevents the destruction of trees that are older than 30 years. Thus, this one tree is now left in the middle of the sidewalk after the road was widened a few decades ago.spewmuffinJun 02, 2011
